MEETING OF EUNICE REPRESENTATIVES AT PUT

On June 5, a meeting of the board of the EUNICE AISBL organization, of which our university is a signatory, took place at the Poznan University of Technology. EUNICE AISBL is a Belgian non-profit organization uniting universities as part of the European University Eunice.

The hosts of the meeting were Rector, prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Paweł Śniatała, prof. PP.

As part of the meeting, the university also hosted vice-rectors for science from EUNICE partner universities in order to deepen the development of scientific activity within the consortium. These sessions were attended by the Vice-Rector for Research, prof. Wojciech Sumelka.

The meeting of the EUNICE AISBL board was an opportunity to analyse the possibilities of undertaking joint, strategic initiatives, especially in the field of science, as well as financing opportunities. Discussions focused on the Alliance's mission, and development of research profiles for the EUNICE Alliance, considering their compliance with the EU assumptions, as well as the goals of sustainable development.

Proposals of activities promoting joint research were analyzed, in particular: joint projects and publications, mobility of scientists, co-promotion, workshops and scientific visits. During the session, the opportunities and threats related to the presence of AI, in particular ChatGPT, in scientific research were discussed.

The agenda of the meeting also addressed the issue of funding, discussing the possibility of joint applications for grants and the formation of research teams that have the potential to transform into Eunice Research Hubs. EUNICE's involvement in European networks and initiatives will be highly beneficial with international partners. Part of the discussion was also devoted to national opportunities for funding projects. The vice chancellor's meeting was a major step towards a shared research plan.

The board was working on the legal and financial aspects of EUNICE AISBL, a non-governmental organization that defines the European University EUNICE's legal framework.

In parallel sessions, EUNICE IT staff discussed how to ensure the success of joint initiatives from a technical point of view. The agenda of the meeting included an analysis of the existing IT platforms and their development paths in the EUNICE and REUNICE projects. The primary emphasis was placed on the newly created Virtual Laboratory, its use and functionalities. The Alliance examined IT solutions for potential use, including for scientific projects. This part of the meeting was conducted by Michael Weissenberg from PUT.
