The selection was made by the rectors during the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland Plenary Assembly in Gdynia.

Prof. Agnieszka Merkisz-Guranowska has been the director of the Institute of Transport at the Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering of the Poznan University of Technology since January 1, 2020.

In the 2020-2024 term, prof. Agnieszka Merkisz-Guranowska is a member of the Senate of the Poznan University of Technology and the Senate Committee for Science, as well as the Rector's Plenipotentiary for the quality of education and the chair of the University Council for the quality of education.

Prof. Merkisz-Guranowska is a graduate of the University of Economics in Poznan, where she obtained a master's degree in economics at the Faculty of Management in 1999 (major in International Economic and Political Relations). Then, she continued her education under the European Master's in Management programme at a university in France, ESCP-EAP Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris - Ecole Européenne des Affaires in Paris. She obtained a doctoral degree in technical sciences with a specialization in Transport Ecology in the discipline of machine construction and operation in 2004 at the Poznan University of Technology, and a postdoctoral degree in Transport Systems in the field of Transport at the Warsaw University of Technology in 2011.

Prof. Merkisz-Guranowska’s research interests focus on the issues of organizing recycling networks for end-of-life means of transport and modelling sustainable transport systems. The main scientific achievement is the development of the original methodology of mathematical modelling for the reconstruction and construction of the infrastructure of the recycling network and the proprietary methodology for assessing the effectiveness of the vehicle recycling network. In total, her scientific achievements include nearly 180 publications (including 8 books and monographs), participation in 140 conferences, symposiums and seminars, 10 patents, and participation in 98 projects and research works carried out for the needs of science and industry.

Prof. Agnieszka Merkisz-Guranowska is an expert of the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology, an expert in the Logistics and Transport Processes section of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a reviewer of the Intelligent Development Operational Programme projects and sectoral programmes for the National Center for Research and Development.
